Rapid fire links tonight, as moving my office has pushed everything back.

Top of the Interwebs:

It’s Valentine’s Day, so I guess the internet is just a little silly. Case in point? Today everyone is talking about Androidify. An Android application created by Google that lets you create an image of yourself in the style of the Android robot. Seriously, that’s what is top of the mind today. That’s all I’ve got.

Bonus for the day: The Dark Origins of Valentine’s Day

Self-aggrandizement:

A very late blog post explains how to build structures inside your stories and reach out to participants with narrative-centric artifacts.

Pwety:

Very cool info graphic on how much Americans spend on Valentine’s Day and what they spend it on.

While you were weekending:

Bar Karma premiered. I’ve spent a while talking about it, so I highly encourage you to take the opportunity to view the first episode for free.

A peak inside real-time charts of Al Jazeera’s internet traffic around Mubarak’s resignation.

The New York Times has a great chart and article about who is marrying whom. Good news, my generation doesn’t care as much about the whole interracial thing as the last one.

If you haven’t been following Andy Carvin’s Twitter account for the latest news out of the revolutions in the Middle East, you should have been. Brian Stelter runs the event down for you and what it means for the future of news.

Check out HyperCities’ map of Egyptian tweets.

A land grab is underway in hyper-local media.

Worth looking at today:

Apple has launched a Mac App store allowing developers to bring their iPhone and iPad products to Apple desktop machines. Am I the only one who gets a creepy feeling from this? Like this was Steve Jobs’ plan all along? There aren’t enough people developing for the Mac, so get them on phones and then pull the developers over to the desktop OS? Can you imagine using a desktop like you use your phone? I just don’t like the taste of it at all.

Apple now the most valuable technology company and Google is closing in on Microsoft. The stupification of America continues.

On the flip side, Adobe says that AIR and Flash are winning over developers, mobile and otherwise. Adobe’s multi-platform-friendly approach is apparently appealing to many developers who are tired of recoding everything whenever they move from one phone OS to another.

The Delaware Art Museum has a very cool tool that allows you to combine works of art to create and interactive story.

Great article on how the 80/20 rule matters for Web Design and how to adjust your websites accordingly.

Very detailed article on the changing world of photojournalism.
