Puerto Rico could seek to invalidate over $4 billion in debt
This is crazy. If Puerto Rico decides to pursue this route it would essentially disappear $4 billion dollars. Which would be great for Puerto Rico, but also just wild implications for debt held by state governments.
Some of Puerto Rico’s $72 billion in outstanding troubled debt could be declared invalid, according to a government report published Thursday that says it may have been issued illegally.
