The Hedge Fund Trader Who Beat the Feds
There is so much in this #longreads piece about the one of the government’s many failed attempts to prosecute individuals in high finance.
There’s the total incompetence of the FBI in understanding industry basics; there’s the complete dickishness of the piece’s subject who gets offended over the FBI interrupting his day to enforce the law (god forbid); there’s the idiotic elevation to hero of this guy, who did nothing more than be the (possibly) uncorrupt person at a corrupt company.
But the cherry on the cake is the improbable but hilarious story of Boston Federal Marshals sitting around watching The Departed all day.
After Todd Newman’s insider-trading conviction was overturned, his case became a landmark.
